EXCERPT
Glancing
at the numerous pictures from his years of surveillance, Tony wondered if he
and Claire had come full circle. Would it
be like this again? Would his only connection to her be through this new investigator?
Would he only see Claire in two dimensions? Tony searched for their
contract, the beginning of their personal journey together. He knew it wouldn’t
be that easy again. If he were to get her back to Iowa and into his life, it
wouldn’t be because of a signature on a napkin.
Then
he shook his head. He didn’t want her back, did he? Hell, the lack of sleep was
making him sentimental. He stopped his search. The damn contract was no longer
valid; it never had been—legally. Pushing the box back into its hideaway, he
contemplated throwing it all away. Having her back wasn’t his goal; learning
her location was. She had no right to disappear.
With
the necklace in his hand, Tony settled upon the soft leather sofa in front of
his fireplace. If Phillip Roach were correct, in a few moments he’d hear the
voice that used to fill his suite and his house. When her voice came through
his phone, Tony wanted to feel her
presence. He imagined the sound as he looked up at her wedding portrait and saw
the emerald green that haunted his dreams. What
did he want to hear? He wanted to know she was safe and unharmed. He wanted
to know where she was, and he also wanted to bring her back to Iowa—because
that was where she belonged.
It
didn’t make sense. To the world she was the woman who tried to kill him. To
Tony she was more than that. The past twenty hours had proven it. She was his
drug. Claire Nichols ran through his system like ecstasy, sending him on
otherwise unobtainable highs. He reasoned that lows followed highs, and she’d
given him those, too; they’d given them to each other. Nevertheless, without
the right stimulant, the euphoria could never again be achieved. Whether it was
elation or misery, neither would be obtainable without the exhilarating potency
of Claire. He didn’t want an empty envelope. He wanted her. Nathaniel was

OUR REVIEW
Wow, is all that I can manage to say right now about this novel. Behind
His Eyes Truth is the 5th novel in the Consequences series and the
second novel that allows us an in-depth view of behind Anthony Rawlings
eyes!
You know not many books render me speechless, but I can say
this Behind His Eyes Truth has now been added to that list. I was
elated to be a part of the blog tour once again for a Behind His Eyes
blog tour. I have always had a place in my heart for Tony. I think it is
because of the love/hate feelings that I have for him. When I first
read Consequences I despised Tony, but he would always do something that
would make me feel bad for having such hatred towards him. By the end
of Convicted I loved Tony. It seemed that all was forgiven and right
with the world. Now after reading BHE Consequences and BHE Truth you
really get that extra understanding to learn of what Tony's motives
really are. You also are able to discover the internal battle that Tony
is fighting within himself to do what he feels is right and to also
ensure that he remains to be a man of his word. However the issue is
that Tony has made a promise to his grandfather and to Catherine.Failure
is not an option in Tony's eyes therefore, in Behind His Eyes Truth you
are able to learn Tony's reasoning for Claire's "consequence". For
those of you who has read the entire series thus far will know exactly
what I am talking about. You will discover that his reasoning behind his
actions was for Tony to still have want he wanted which was Claire, but
also maintain his commitment and loyalty to Nathaniel and Catherine.
What Tony should have known is that Claire's personality, determination ,
and strength would permit her from backing down without a fight and
refusing to allow Tony to determine her fate. Claire would rather suffer
the consequences than submit. As much as you want to hate Tony for
doing what he did, you can't help but understand his reasoning.
I
feel that without Behind His Eyes Truth we would have never allowed
Tony the chance to redeem himself for all of his wrongdoings. This novel
has evoked so many feels! Aleatha has covered all of the important
topics that occurred in Truth (book #2). It is interesting to learn
exactly how Tony was thinking and feeling when all of these events
occurred especially the internal battles that he struggled to extinguish
on a constant basis. It all boils down to trust. However trust cannot
be earned without revealing the truth..and the truth is exactly what you
will learn, but this time it will be from behind his eyes!
I
highly recommend this novel for those who have read the series. These
stories from Anthony Rawlings perspective add so much more to the story.
It allows you to give the man you love to hate a chance to understand
what is going on in his mind..and perhaps you will then understand that
even though his intentions for Claire did not start out as ideal, you
will witness his intentions transforming into an undeniable love for
Claire. This series is truly unique and Aleatha broaches a topic that
would otherwise be viewed as unethical, unconventional, and immoral and
transforms the story into showing that love can conquer all even if in
the beginning it started as an acquisition.

Aleatha Romig is a New

Aleatha has lived most
of her life in Indiana, growing-up in Mishawaka, graduating from Indiana
University, and currently living south of Indianapolis. Together with her
