I promise that Maybe Someday is unlike anything that you have already read or will read in the future.**

So without further ado...here is my review of MAYBE SOMEDAY.

Colleen Hoover has the rare talent to make a reader feel every single word that is written on each page. She is the only author I know that can bring a reader to their knees with her words and put a smile on their face in the next sentence. What is really baffling is that Colleen has the ability to do this by only having 26 letters at her disposal.
“There are only twenty-six letters in the English alphabet. You would think there would only be so much you could do with twenty-six letters. You would think there were only so many ways those letters could make you feel when mixed up and shoved together to make words.”

Colleen broached a topic that would be uncomfortable in some people’s eyes and took the ugly out of it, and made it an emotionally compelling story. You will feel hurt, betrayal, confusion, anger, lust, wrecked, desire, and most importantly, love. Colleen uses a painful topic and transforms it into a realistic story by showing the reader that sometimes life has to get ugly in order for the heart to feel what true love really is.
“My heart split completely in two. Half of it belonged to you from that point on. Every other beat of my heart was for you.”

I would say that this story is about two souls that belong together, that are totally in sync with one another struggling to merge as one, but the highest barrier is just how loyal the heart can be to another person that one may think it belongs to.
“I didn’t realize that the best life I could give her was a life without me in it. She needed the opposite of what I could offer her, and I know that now.”

Lines are crossed and emotions run high in order to come to this realization. When you think that one person is your forever, fate has a way of twisting things to view your life from another perspective.
“Sometimes in life we need a few bad days in order to keep the good ones in perspective.”

This story is unique in its own right. I assure you that it is not your typical love story. Colleen pushes each character to their breaking point. What keeps them holding on is that maybe someday they will be together. Maybe someday it will be their turn to act upon these feelings that they cannot deny. These feelings ignited and initially started by expressing their attraction for one another through lyrics. Colleen created a unique character and shows that love has no boundaries, and such differences will not pose as a barrier when two people who live there worlds in a completely different way merge as one.
“Our souls aren’t just compatible –they’re perfectly attuned. I feel everything she feels. I understand things she never even has to say. I know that what she needs is exactly what I could give her, and what she’s wishing she could give me is something I never knew I needed.”

Love is a tricky emotion in life. It can bring happiness and it can evoke pain. Love also causes people to do the most selfless things in order for the other to be happy. What I have learned is that love can be expressed in many ways. Love can be felt, love can be heard externally, and love can be heard internally. Sometimes love can even cause someone to step out of their comfort zone to ensure that the one person that matters knows exactly how they feel.
“I need you…to hear this.”
“I…will never…regret you.”

This milestone in the story was beautiful and left tears streaming down my face. What occurred is something that many people take advantage of, something that is usually viewed as insignificant, and something that was so heartfelt and meaningful that you must read this story to understand its worth.

At this point in the story I had no idea where it would go. I can honestly admit that I was terrified to find out. In my mind I knew what I wanted to happen, but I was not convinced that it was the right thing to happen. However I viewed the next few parts as a lesson that was imperative to include in order to show just how devoted and loyal two hearts that are separated can be. Sometimes in life it is best to walk way to allow the heart to grow fonder and to allow the heart to recognize its missing beat.
“The only thing we can control is whether we give our minds the chance to catch up to our hearts.”

"Just say the word."

After I finished reading the last word in the story I felt numb. Life is carrying on without a care in the world and here I am feeling emotionally exhausted. Every time I learn that Colleen is writing a new novel I get so excited because I know that it will be unlike anything that I will ever read. I know that her words will teach me new things that I may have taken advantage of before. Now I have learned another lesson and this time it is for the meaning behind the phrase:
“I want you to hear me love you.”

Thank you for this amazing story! I can only hope that everyone will give it a chance. Until then, I will be anxiously awaiting the release of Ugly Love!
