Blog Tour & Review for TOXIC (Torn Series #4) by Author K.A. Robinson!

***Toxic: Logan's Story is Book Four of the Torn Series, but
it can be read as a standalone if desired.***

True love is forever. After years of chasing his best friend, Chloe, Logan
finally managed to win her heart—or so he thought. His world crashes down
around him when she confesses to cheating on him with a local rock star, Drake.
Unable to let her go completely from his life, Logan reassumes his role of best
friend while he watches Chloe find her happily ever after with another man.
Each day, he sinks further and further into his depression, and the kind,
caring Logan he once was dies. When Jade, a member of Drake’s band, inserts
herself into his life, Logan never expects to fall for her. He’s too broken,
too damaged.

Jade ran away from home when she was seventeen, desperate to escape her abusive
stepfather and her controlling boyfriend, Mikey. The only regret she has is
that she left behind her little sister, Bethaney. When Jade’s band, Breaking
the Hunger, hits it big, she vows to go back to her hometown not only to
reconnect with her little sister, but also to show her stepfather that she’s
not worthless like he said.

The moment Jade saw Logan, she knew she wanted him. Unfortunately, he was with
Chloe at the time. After his world falls apart, Jade steps in to comfort him,
determined to bring back the Logan she once knew.

Sometimes, you find true love with the person you never least expect. Can Logan
and Jade heal each other? Or will they forever be changed by their toxic pasts?

TOXIC = Logan's story!! YAY!

According to the author Toxic can be read as a standalone. I must admit that I was hesitant about this claim because I have not read any other book in the Torn series, but I thought I would give Toxic a chance. The claim that this novel can be read as a standalone is correct. I did not feel that I missed any part of the story by just reading this novel. However if you want the full story of what happened from then to now then it is best to start from the beginning of course, but please note that it is not necessary!

Okay, so here are my initial thoughts about Toxic.

*My heart hurt for Logan.

*I was rooting for him the whole story.

*There were times where I hated Chloe because she was the cause to the way he turned out to be.

*Logan has a very big heart, but since his kindness was taken advantage of, he turned bitter and womanizing for a period of time.

*Logan is thoughtful, insecure, paranoid, and HOT as hell.

*I loved that Logan did not initially succumb to his feelings and decided to get his life in order.

About the Story:

I need to say this again: Oh Logan! I just want to give him a hug and tell him that everything happens for a reason! Honestly, this novel depicts just that.

After years of Logan crushing hard on his best friend Chloe, he finally managed to start a real relationship with her. Things are going great...well at the time Logan at least thought so. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. Chloe confessed to Logan that she was not faithful throughout their relationship. She in fact cheat him on with a local rock star, Drake. This part of the story portrays that there was a love triangle that occurred in the previous novels. Logan sets out to find Drake and smash his face in. He does just that, but Drake confesses that he is in love with Chloe and she in fact shares the same feelings. Logan at this point is heart broken, but makes an agreement with Drake that whoever Chloe chooses then the other will respect that decision and back off. At first Chloe says that she cannot be with anyone. Logan decides to back off and put some space between him and Chloe. After a while he learns that Chloe is not taking the separation very well so he decides to make amends. This is the part of the story where I hate Chloe because shortly after Logan patches things up with Chloe she decides to give Drake a shot! GRR!

At this point in time Logan puts up a good front and struggles to hide how he really feels about Chloe and Drake being together, bit Logan isn't fooling everyone!

At this part of the story Jade steps in and calls Logan's bluff. Note: Jade is the drummer in Drake's band. At first Jade's intentions were just to be there for Logan to console him through these times. However as time goes on it is evident that Logan and Jade share a mutual attraction. Jade at the time is Logan's person. He needs all the support he can get since he resumed the role of Chloe's best friend, but it is killing him inside to root for the opposing team when all he wanted was to share his life with Chloe forever. At this point Logan is damaged and begins his womanizing phase. However what Logan and Jade both need to consider is that sometimes what you need is staring you right in the face.

So, if you are curious to learn how Logan has coped with all this and what exactly becomes of him and Jade then read TOXIC! It is definitely worth the read. I loved this novel.

I raised an eyebrow. “Why are you so determined
to make sure that Jade and I end up together?”

       “Because I
want you both to be happy, and after all of this sorted out, I think you two
could be really happy with each other. You both care a lot about each other.
I’ve never seen Jade act the way she did when Drake called her. She was really
upset. And you’ve been Mopey McMoperpants since you came home. It’s obvious
that you’re both miserable without one another.”

      “Do you really
think that we’d be happy together? Honestly, I’m not so sure. I don’t exactly
fit in with the rest of her world.”

      “Why do you think that?”

      “She’s a rock
star, Chloe, and I’m just…I’m not into that scene. I don’t like the same things
you guys do. I don’t look like any of the other guys she hangs out with. I’m
not pierced or tattooed. I’m not…I don’t know what the fuck I’m trying to say here.”

     Chloe started to say
something, but Drake cut her off, “Look, Logan, I’ve known Jade for a long
time. I’ve watched her get hit on by tons of guys, and she’s never paid
attention to any of them. She didn’t care that they were part of our scene.
Truthfully, most of the guys we hang out with are womanizing assholes.”

      “True story,”
Chloe cut in, giving Drake a dirty look.

     “Hey, I haven’t been
that way in a long time. Don’t glare at me like that. Anyway, my point is, just
because she lives a certain way and has a certain profession doesn’t mean that
she’s going to want a certain type of guy. She obviously likes you, so just go
with it.”

      “He’s right.
Don’t doubt yourself because you two have different lives. You’re a good-looking
guy, Logan. You don’t need tattoos or piercings for girls to notice you. Jade
obviously likes you just the way you are.”

      “I feel like I
should pull the car over, so we can all hug. This is getting awkward,” Drake
muttered.

      Chloe laughed. “Don’t
be jealous, Drake. I think you’re a goodlooking guy, too.”

     He rolled his eyes.
“Thanks. I feel much more secure about our marriage now that you’ve admitted
you’re attracted to me.

Happy Release Day Cassia Leo!
Today we're celebrating the release of Forever Ours.
Forever Ours
is the highly anticipated prequel to the New York Times
and USA Today
bestselling Shattered Hearts Series. This should be before Relentless.

Sometimes, it takes more than love to
mend a shattered heart.

After eight years of
being tossed around from one home to another, never forming any meaningful
friendships or bonds with her foster families, Claire's caseworker gives her an
ultimatum: Behave or your next home will be a halfway house.

When fifteen-year-old
Claire arrives at the home of Jackie Knight and meets Jackie's fifteen-year-old
son, tattooed guitarist Chris, she fears she'll be seeing the inside of that
halfway house soon. But Chris isn't like any other guy Claire has ever
encountered and he soon gains her trust through his music and unwavering
patience.

Claire has finally
found her forever home and she and Chris soon find themselves falling in love.

But Chris’s dreams of
musical stardom and Claire’s need for a stable home soon put their love in
jeopardy. Chris struggles deeply with his plans for the future, entirely
reluctant to leave Claire behind; until Claire does something that may break
their love — and the only home she’s comes to know — forever.

Chapter Eleven
Chris
Forever Addicted

I tumble out of bed and drag myself out of my
bedroom and into the hallway. When I push open the bathroom door, my eyes widen
at what I’ve stumbled upon. Claire is standing next to the toilet, holding her
new cell phone over the toilet bowl. Her lips are pressed together in a hard
line across her delicate face.
“What the fuck?” is the first thing that slips
out of my mouth.
“I don’t want this thing anymore.”
“Please don’t drop it in the toilet.”
“What is the point of having a cell phone if you
never answer it?”
Oh, shit. She’s had
this phone two months and it’s turned her into a crazy person. I don’t dare say
this out loud, but I’m beginning to wish I’d gotten her something else for her
birthday.
If I don’t call her back within a few minutes,
she accuses me of playing games. If she doesn’t call me back right away, it’s
because she was busy. I don’t think she even realizes how insane this sounds.
“What do you want me to do? Just tell me what
you want and I’ll do it.” I inch closer to her and she smiles when she realizes
she has my attention. “You want me to promise I’ll never wait more than five
minutes to call you back? Would that make you happy?”
She loses the smile and purses her lips. “This
phone has turned me into an addict. I look at it every two minutes to check for
missed calls and texts from you. It’s sick!”
I reach for her wrist and slowly move my hand
down until the phone is in my hand. I place it gently on the bathroom counter,
then I look her in the eyes.
“Babe, you’re not addicted to your phone. You’re
addicted to me.”
“Shut up!” she smacks my chest and I try not to
laugh too loud.
I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her
against me. She’s breathing hard as my lips hover over hers. “Don’t you have to
get ready for school?”
“It’s a late day. I don’t have to be at school
for two and a half hours.”
I smile. It actually makes me happy that I can’t
remember what day is a late day anymore since I quit school. The only regret I
have about quitting school is that Claire is alone now. With Jake and Rachel
graduated, and Tristan hanging out with his new girlfriend, Ashley, Claire says
she spends most of her time outside of class reading.
“Good, ‘cause I have plans for you…. I gonna
text you for two hours straight.”
“You’re such a jerk!”
She tries to push me away and I lean in to kiss
her. At first she closes her mouth, but she laughs when I plant a loud kiss on
her cheek. And I seize the opportunity to kiss her hard.
Seconds later, we’re lying on my bed, the sheets
bunched up beneath her and my hand easing down her waist to her hip. She grabs
my hand to stop me and I smile as I move my hand up. I trail my lips over her
smooth jaw and plant a soft kiss on her neck. I hear a sniffing noise and I
quickly pull my head back, afraid she’s crying.
“Oh, my God. You smell so good,” she says,
leaning forward so she can sniff my shoulder.
“Really?”
She grabs fistfuls of my T-shirt and brings them
to her nose as she inhales. “Yes! Is that some kind of cologne or something?”
“No, it’s laundry soap and you use the same one.”
“No, it has to be something else.”
I reach up and lightly drag my fingertip across
her jawline. “Yeah, it’s laundry soap and my pheromones, which you obviously
can’t get enough of. Addict.”
“Shut up.”
“What? There’s nothing wrong with that. I can’t
get enough of your scent either.” I bury my face in the crook of her neck and
she lets out a soft gasp when I lick her skin. “You smell sweet and salty at
the same time, like raspberries with a hint of the beach. It’s fucking
intoxicating.”
“Really?” she breathes. “That’s what I smell
like to you?”
I nuzzle my nose against the sensitive spot
behind her ear and she giggles softly. “See what you do to me? I can’t get
enough of you.”
I kiss her neck and her skin is so soft, I want
to devour her. But I respect her boundaries. So minutes later, we’re on my bike
on the way to drop her off at school.  As
usual, she plants a kiss on the front of my helmet, leaving a kiss mark on the
glass. Then she bats my hand away when I try to grab her ass as she walks away.
Something about this feels too perfect. I keep
waiting for my mom to tell me that Claire’s being moved to another foster home.
Or that my mom will find out about us and Claire’s caseworker will have her
removed from our home.
Something bad is coming. It could be next week or next year. All I
know is that this can’t continue the way it has. It’s too perfect. Nothing in
my life has ever been this good or easy.
