Synopsis:
Sometimes love
burns so hot in your veins that it consumes
all rational
thought.
That's why
Brock and I never had a chance. I had to
start my life over. College was my
chance to
become someone new. I changed everything about myself to fit in, but
one person saw
through my facade.
The attraction
between Abel and I was undeniable, but I
still hadn't
healed from the painful secret I carried around with me. Abel
struggled to
get me to face my past in order to move forward. In doing so, he
revealed a
secret of his own; one that changed everything I thought I knew.
A secret that
would bring Brock back into my life and force
me to face the
truth of what really happened the day I lost him.

Our 5 Star Review of Perfect Lie
I received an ARC of Perfect Lie for the Blog Tour. Perfect Lie is the very first book I have ever read by Teresa Mummert, and after completing this novel, I regret that.
I really enjoyed the characters in Perfect Lie. The two main characters are Abel and Delilah also known as, Lie. The story also includes Delilah's therapist Maire, Delilah's roommate Trish, and Delilah's ex-boyfriend Brock. Of course there were more, but these characters are who really shape the story.
Brock and Lie met in a shelter. It was instant attraction. Lie was head over heels for Brock because he was the first person to ever be nice to Lie. Lie was a product of rape. Her mother was very young when she unwillingly has Lie. Lie was the outcast in her town and her family. So, Lie couldn't take the emotional abuse anymore and ran away, which led her to be in the shelter where she met Brock. Brock claimed that Lie reminded him of a person in his past...she was his Bird. Lie looked so wounded and sad when Brock first seen her. He wanted to protect Lie from her demons and fight her battles. Brock promised Lie forever once they got out of the shelter.
However Lie ran away again, which is what she does best from Mississippi to Florida to live with her Uncle at first, but she soon moved in with her new roommate and only friend Trish. Trish is a wild party girl and what many would call a slut. Trish is vain, she only cares about partying, getting high, screwing, and most of all, herself. Lie was desperate to start over for a new beginning where no one knew her past. Even though her friendship with Trish caused her to act out of character, she didn't care as long as she was accepted. Trish brought Lie to a house party which was where is met Abel.
Just like Brock, Abel was instantly attracted to Lie. Abel knew that Lie was different. Lie was not like his typical friends whose priorities were distorted. Abel was relentless to get to know Lie. Lie fought to push Abel away, but there was this undeniable attraction that she was unwillingly to admit. Her memories of Brock still haunted her dreams and she was not ready to move on from what her and Brock had shared. However Abel weaseled his way into Lie's life. He was everywhere. He was extremely protective of Lie and was determined for her to admit who she really was. He wanted to break down Lie's wall.
Abel had a painful past. He was struggling to overcome his demons. He let Lie in a little at a time. However as soon as Lie would see Abel for who he really is, his wall would go right back up. Abel and Lie's playful banter was quite humorous and entertaining to say the least. They coyness was laced with sarcasm. I loved it.
Lie realized that Abel was getting closer and closer to breaking her shell, so what did she do? She ran like always, but Abel's determination could not be defeated. He was relentless. Little by little he chipped away pieces of Lie's wall by admitting parts of his past. No one has ever been able to get Lie to tell her story; not her uncle or Marie. One day Lie knew it was time. Lie was ready to face and expose her demons, and explain why her and Brock could never be together. She was ready to move on with her life and get her forever with Abel that she could never have with Brock. She was willing to accept that fate. So, Lie called Marie and said she was ready to tell her story and she was bringing Abel. Lie was terrified that once Abel knew the truth he would run, run far away.
What happened next I did not see coming!!! I was in shock and had to reread a few pages to make sure I read it right. I was thinking to myself, Wait...WTF? Hold on a minute...What? I couldn't believe it. I still don't believe it. However this plot twist is what makes the story unique. It came so far out of left field that I was rendered speechless and in shock. I was sad and confused all at the same time. I still am!

Author Bio:
"I was a
Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given my uncanny ability to tell if
someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the weekends). By sixteen I had
become too much of a handful for the Lethal Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I
was quickly exiled to the south of France where I worked with wayward elephants
in the Circus of Roaming Animals and People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends
meet by selling my organs on the black market for pocket change and beer money.
At the age of twenty three I decided to expand my horizons and become a
blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the family atmosphere at Barney's
Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People couldn't resist the allure of
Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually I became tired of the rear
and headed off to the United States to try my hand at tall tales. That is what
brings us here today. If you have a moment I'd like to tell you a story.
