From Lies to Promises is Faith S. Lynn's debut novel. The story is entertaining, intriguing, and emotional at times.
I really enjoyed all of the characters in this story. The primary characters are Katrina and Ryder. Katrina's childhood was a nightmare. Katrina was a victim of abuse. The worst part is no one in her family or in her town for that matter believed her. In their eyes she was a liar. So what does she do? She hightails it out of there and is bound and determined to start a new life far away from her dark and grueling past. This when when Katrina accidentally met her current roommates: Skeigh and Lexi. They are the three musketeers. Katrina was content with her life. She had her roommates and she was Jamie's "big sister". Everything was about to change when one night Skeigh, Lexi, and Katrina decided to go to a party and that is when Katrina and Ryder's worlds united. Katrina was knew that there was something about Ryder that she could not ignore. She also knew that if she let Ryder in she would fall hard. Ryder was instantly attracted to Katrina and he was dead set on getting to know her. Katrina left the party with no intentions of ever seeing Ryder again, but fate works in amazing ways doesn't it? The only difference this time is that Ryder "promises" Katrina that he will in fact see her again. Did I mention that Ryder is a sneaky fellow? You will have to read this novel to find out how Ryder slips into Katrina's life. It's quite cute actually.

Okay, so I loved Ryder. He seemed like the perfect man. However Ryder seems to have an issue with sticking around. Usually when a relationship gets tough, he goes running the other way. This may become an issue considering that Katrina has many, many skeletons in her closet. Do you think that Ryder can handle the heat or will he go running when the truth is exposed. Excerpt #1:

“That’s what I am doing now, is getting to know you. Should I not want to be a part of your life? Are you a serial killer or something?” He jokes. “Ah, she does smile.”

I don’t even know that I am smiling until he says something, which only causes me to smile bigger. “What are you talking about, I smile all the time.”

“Yea, but that one was real.” He doesn’t say anything more, just starts digging into his food. I don’t press him on what he means because I know. The question is, how does he?

Excerpt #2:

Before Ryder has a chance to react, I take his face in my hands and pull him down for a kiss. For a second he is still, then he kisses me back. This kiss isn’t like the first one, there is no holding back for either of us. I am giving myself over to be hurt, I know this. What’s the saying? Go big or go home. That’s what I intend to do. I ease my hands away from his face and around his neck. His elbow still supporting his weight, his other hand has made it to my hip. He grips it and pulls me closer to him, our bodies lined together perfectly. When his teeth graze my bottom lip in a soft nip, I can’t contain the moan that leaves me. Hearing it, Ryder deepens the kiss.

We come back to reality when the movie starts. Ryder pulls back, my body begging for more, and he has that damned grin on his face. “That makes me very happy.” I smile on the inside, I want to make him happy. To be the reason that smile takes residence on his handsome face.

I am a New Adult author. From Lies to Promises is my debut novel! I am wife to the best husband of the freaking universe and mother to 3 majorly awesome kids! Reading, Xbox, cooking and WINE just barely scrape the surface of who I am. Everyone who knows me will say I am a nerd... and I would agree. Want to know a secret? I am a super hero. True story!

I have an obsession with anything people consider odd and I think learning is the bees knees. I have an Associates degree in Business Management and was an accountant for 7 years. I know, boooring! But I like having a problem and seeing a solution.
